Dropbox Capture Is Gone. Here’s Why Visla Should Be Your Next Recording Tool

If you’re here because Dropbox Capture is ending today, you’re not alone. Countless professionals relied on the tool to record quick how-tos, share demos, and walk teammates through complex workflows. Now that it’s gone, you need a solid replacement right now. That’s where Visla steps in.

We’ll cut to the chase: Visla does everything Dropbox Capture did and more. It can easily handle screen recordings, audio, video, and step-by-step walkthroughs. Not only that, but it works across teams, looks polished out of the box, and saves you time with built-in AI. If you used Dropbox Capture for work, Visla will feel like an upgrade.

What Dropbox Capture users are losing today

As of March 24, Dropbox Capture is no longer available. That means:

  • No more screen, audio, or webcam recordings from the Capture tool.
  • No new GIFs or screenshots via the app.
  • No access to Capture’s web interface.
  • All previous links to anonymous captures are broken.

You can still access your old files in Dropbox, but many of Capture’s most useful features are gone. If you used it to collaborate, explain, or teach, you’re probably feeling the gap already.

Why Visla is the best Dropbox Capture alternative

Let’s talk about what you actually need right now:

  • A reliable way to record your screen.
  • Tools to turn those recordings into clear, engaging content.
  • Easy sharing.
  • Fast workflows that save you time.

Visla checks all of those boxes and then some.

Simple, powerful screen recording

Like Capture, Visla lets you record your screen, audio, and camera at the same time. But it goes further. You can choose to record your entire screen or a specific window, annotate in real-time, zoom and pan to highlight what matters, and add speaker notes only you can see while recording.

You also get high-quality audio from both your mic and system sounds. If you’ve ever had to redo a demo because your screen recorder didn’t capture audio right, you know how valuable that is.

Step-by-step recording

This is where Visla really shines. The Screen Step Recorder automatically breaks your recording into clean, annotated steps. It records your clicks and actions, then uses AI to create text overlays, shapes, and arrows for clarity.

It even adds synced voice narration and music if you want. And yes, you can customize everything, from the scene order to the text, narration, and your brand colors.

If you were using Dropbox Capture to show someone how to do something, this tool will feel like a major upgrade. It’s perfect for training new hires, walking customers through setup, or creating internal SOPs.

Powerful editing with AI help

Once you finish your recording, Visla gives you built-in AI tools to clean it up. You can remove filler words, cut awkward pauses, and highlight the best moments. You can even edit your video by editing the transcript.

Need to polish it up for a client or your team? Add text overlays and graphics, apply your brand look, and more, all without opening another app. That’s time saved.

Easy sharing and collaboration

Dropbox Capture made it simple to share links. Visla does too. One click, and your video is ready to share

If you’re working with a team, Visla gives you a Workspace to gather footage, give feedback, and finalize editing together, all in one place. What’s better than that?
